Amongst other things he talks about surgeons being too hasty to operate and how asymptomatic patients invariably have dreadful looking scans but no pain. Equally so, with people who are in pain, findings that are there may not be pain-making, even though they might look bad. He calls it the 'medicalisation of normal'.
